President-elect Donald Trump raged at California Governor Gavin Newsom on Wednesday as wildfires continue to rip through Los Angeles. Multiple out-of-control wildfires have forced 30,000 residents to evacuate their homes as firefighters deal with severe water shortages and 100-mph winds, making it difficult to get the inferno under control.
In a post on TRUTH Social, Trump blasted Newsom for refusing to sign a “water restoration declaration” that would have allowed more water to flow into Los Angeles.
Multiple news outlets are reporting firefighters can’t get water from hydrants.
🚨California deserves better!
“This is like a third-world country, there is no water coming out of the fire hydrants. LA Mayor Karen Bass is on a foreign trip to Ghana.”

“Governor Gavin Newscum refused to sign the water restoration declaration put before him that would have allowed millions of gallons of water, from excess rain and snow melt from the North, to flow daily into many parts of California, including the areas that are currently burning in a virtually apocalyptic way,” Trump posted on TRUTH Social. “He wanted to protect an essentially worthless fish called a smelt, by giving it less water (it didn’t work!), but didn’t care about the people of California. Now the ultimate price is being paid. I will demand that this incompetent governor allow beautiful, clean, fresh water to FLOW INTO CALIFORNIA! He is the blame for this. On top of it all, no water for fire hydrants, not firefighting planes. A true disaster!”
Incoming Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt supported Trump’s fish claim with a post on X.
“President Trump is 100% right about the wildfires In 2020, he signed an order diverting water from Northern Cali to cities & farmers in the south Gavin Newscum immediately filed suit to ‘protect highly imperiled fish species close to extinction.'”

The Golden State Gov isn’t the only lawmaker taking heat for the fire. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, who is out of the country in Ghana, is also getting blasted for cutting more than $17 million dollars from the fire department budget.
