President Trump on Monday formally signed an executive order cutting federal funding to jurisdictions that maintain cashless bail policies.
Attorney General Pam Bondi is compiling a list of affected areas, which could include states like New York, cities such as Washington, D.C., and other localities with lenient bail practices.
“Cashless bail policies allow dangerous individuals to immediately return to the streets and further endanger law-abiding, hard-working Americans because they know our laws will not be enforced,” a White House memo said. The memo added that repeatedly arresting offenders freed without bail is a “waste of public resources and obvious threat to public safety.”
U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro told Fox & Friends Monday that cashless bail was when “all of the problems started” with crime spikes nationwide.

“So important,” Trump said, signing the order, adding, “This isn’t Republican-Democrat, this is just we have to bring our country back.”

Trump signed a second executive order specific to the District of Columbia.
This order directs authorities to keep criminal defendants in federal custody while they await trial instead of giving judges the option of releasing them on bail or on recognizance.
Trump also signed an executive order banning the burning of the American flag.
“All over the country they’re burning flags…through a very sad court…they called it freedom of speech…When you burn the American flag it incites riots…You burn a flag, you get one year in jail,” Trump said, signing the order.
