“The White House, not happy with the news media’s coverage of the supply chain and economy, has been working behind the scenes trying to reshape coverage in its favor,” CNN’s Reliable Sources newsletter said. “Senior White House and admin officials — including NEC Deputy Directors David Kamin and Bharat Ramamurti, along with Ports Envoy John Porcari — have been briefing major newsrooms over the past week, a source tells me.”

“The officials have been discussing with newsrooms trends pertaining to job creation, economic growth, supply chains, and more,” the newsletter added. “The basic argument that has been made: That the country’s economy is in much better shape than it was last year. Under President Biden, U.S. inflation has hit its highest level in more than 30 years, reaching 6.2% from October 2020 to October 2021 – the most recent available data. In October 2021 alone, inflation surged 0.9% compared to the 0.6% economists expected, according to CNBC.

The record high inflation rate has caused the real wages of Americans to fall over the last year. Additionally, on a month-to-month basis, the real wages of Americans have decreased every month of Biden’s presidency except September and March.

The jobs recovery from the pandemic-caused unemployment has also slowed dramatically since Biden took office and has repeatedly fallen below economists’ expectations. As CNBC reported on the November 2021 jobs report, “Nonfarm payrolls increased by just 210,000 for the month… Dow Jones estimate was for 573,000 new jobs.”
