On the latest episode of The Word of the Lord, host Jeffrey Lord discusses Operation Epic Fury in the context of Iran’s history of attacks on Americans and American bases throughout the years.

“The date: November 4th, 1979. The place: the American Embassy in Tehran, Iran. On that day, in the aftermath of the Iranian Revolution that had overthrown the Shah, followers from the Muslim student followers of Imam’s line, as they were called, descended on the United States Embassy, supported by the leader of the revolution — Khamenei” Lord says.

“The students took 66 hostages from the embassy staff, both diplomatic personnel and civilians,” Lord said.

They held the hostages for 144 days — and that’s just one event in a tense, violent U.S.-Iranian history.

“The hostility of the Iranian government never went away,” Lord says.

“On and on this has gone, with Iranian murdersous assaults on various Americans in 1985, 1989, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, and on into the 21st century.”

It’s in that light, Lord examines Operation Epic Fury.
