A Stark Accounting: Homan Talks 62K Migrant Children Rescued, Many Still Missing

Sometimes a statistic lands with the force of a moral reckoning.

Border Czar Tom Homan told Fox & Friends that the Trump administration has identified more than 62,000 children rescued from sex trafficking and forced labor — “children that were ignored” under President Biden, he said.

“Over half a million children were smuggled into this country under Joe Biden,” Homan said Sunday. “They lost track of 300,000. President Trump committed on day one that we will do everything we can to find every one of these children.”

He didn’t soften the picture. “We know many of them are in sex trafficking. Many are in forced labor. Many are being abused,” he added. “I can’t discuss some of the mistreatment we found out about. President Trump again proved why he’s the greatest president in my lifetime. Over 62,000 children rescued.”

Republicans and whistleblowers have long alleged that between 300,000 and 500,000 migrant children were “missing” or “lost” under the Biden administration. Critics counter that the number traces back to a Department of Homeland Security report showing that ICE released roughly 291,000 children without notices to appear in court between 2019 and May 2024 — leaving the government unable to track them once they entered the country as unaccompanied minors.

During the 2024 campaign, Trump and Homan hammered the point. “This is not even possible to believe, 325,000 migrant children are missing, many of whom have been trafficked and raped,” Trump said at a rally.

The internal strain was real. President Biden reportedly “lashed out” at then–Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra over the department’s failure to manage the surge of unaccompanied minors.

Homan said the criticism Trump faced for his border crackdown misses the larger truth. “They’re complicit,” he said of Democrats. “Four years this has happened: sex trafficking historic highs, children crossing the border historic highs, migrant deaths crossing the border historic highs.”

“Like or love President Trump, you got to admit, this man has shown every day he’s saving America.”

In Homan’s telling, the border is not a policy debate anymore — it’s a ledger of lives lost and found.
