Almost no coverage of the barbaric murder…
Liberal media and politicians are under fire for their silence after the savage murder of 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, stabbed to death on a Charlotte light rail train by a career criminal with 14 prior arrests.
The surveillance footage is unbearable: Decarlos Brown Jr., 35, sits behind her, calmly unfolding a pocket knife while Zarutska scrolls on her phone — a young woman at peace, unaware of the evil poised just inches away. The clip cuts as the blade is raised.
After the killing, Brown drifts down the train car as if nothing had happened, blood dripping across the floor. He strips off his hoodie, waits for the next stop, and walks away. The other passengers barely move — a silence almost as shocking as the crime itself.
The attack happened Aug. 22. Yet in the aftermath, mainstream outlets and Democratic politicians have said little, as if silence could blunt the horror. Charlotte’s Democratic mayor even thanked those who withheld the footage.
“The video of the heartbreaking attack that took Iryna Zarutska’s life is now public. I want to thank our media partners and community members who have chosen not to repost or share the footage out of respect for Iryna’s family,” Mayor Vi Lyles wrote on X.
Her words only deepened the anger. “The Mayor’s refusal to condemn senseless, horrific, and preventable violence is as telling as it is despicable. Violent criminals, regardless of who they are or what they look like, need to be in jail,” Rep. Brad Knott (R-NC) shot back.
Police say Brown faces murder charges. But the city itself faces a deeper reckoning — the fury of citizens demanding safety, and the shame of leaders who seem unable to speak plainly about right and wrong.
When CNN finally covered the story, it was not the savagery of the crime they led with, but the “political backlash.” A young woman lost her life on a quiet train ride home, and the response was hedged, careful, muted.
CNN finally covers the murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska by a deranged black man, only for them to focus on the "political backlash."

The truth is harsher: evil walked that train car, and too many looked away. If justice means anything, it begins with refusing to be silent in the face of such barbarism.
