This is some wild spin.

During a recent sitdown interview with Fox News 11, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass revealed she’s investigating why no one stopped her from traveling outside the country while the weather forecast called for dangerous winds — winds that exacerbated the deadly LA wildfires.

Bass was in Ghana while Los Angeles burned.

“We need to look at everything about the preparation and all of that for the fires … I think when we evaluate that, we will find that although there were warnings, that I frankly wasn’t aware of…,” Bass told Fox 11 before noting the city’s preparation “wasn’t what it typically is.”

“That level of preparation didn’t happen,” she added, eschewing blame. “If it had, I wouldn’t have even gone to San Diego, let alone leave the country.”

Bass continued: “From the city, from the county, that level of preparation didn’t happen. So it didn’t reach that level to me, to say, ‘Something terrible could happen and maybe you shouldn’t have gone on the trip.’”

Conservative pundits and commentators blasted Bass on X for seemingly ducking all blame for her actions.

“While Los Angeles burned, LA Mayor Karen Bass was out of the country. Now, she’s claiming she’s investigating why no one stopped her from leaving. We have an LA Mayor’s Office employee ON TAPE admitting why Bass fled Los Angeles. The truth is coming. Stay tuned,” said investigative reporter James O’Keefe.

“LA Mayor Karen Bass says she’s really just a victim for being allowed to travel to Ghana when forecasts predicted massive Santa Ana winds that led to catastrophic fires. She says there will be an investigation as to why she was victimized. Unreal spin,” said Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

“Investigating someone else for something you did is wild,” said Collin Rugg.
