Former President Donald Trump and vice presidential candidate JD Vance briefly spoke with reporters after casting their votes for the Trump-Vance ticket on Tuesday; Vance was in Ohio while Trump spoke to reporters outside his polling place in Florida.
Vance seemed cautiously optimistic.
“I feel good,” Vance said. “But you never know until you know. Our message is that we do expect to win. I felt this way before I won my first election and I feel that way today.”
“No matter what, half the country is gonna be hurting today,” Vance said. “We feel the best way to heal that country is to govern strong and as best we can. But family, friendships those are what matters most. Nobody should ever discard them for the sake of politics.”

Trump said he feels “very confident.”
“We went in with a really big lead today and it seems like Republicans have shown up in force,” Trump said, adding that he’s hearing turnout is big in Texas.
“I ran a great campaign. I think it was maybe the best of three,” Trump continued. “This was the best campaign we’ve ran.”
