Cruz Slams Texas Hospital For Giving Puberty Blockers To Kids As Young As 8-Years-Old

On Wednesday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) slammed a hospital in Texas after an undercover video allegedly showed medical professionals at the facility saying that they had patients as young as 8-years-old receiving life-altering transgender treatments.

Cruz made his comments during an interview with Newsmax to the footage that Project Veritas released of medical professionals at Austin-based Dell Children’s Medical Center.

“Heidi and I used to live in Austin, we’ve taken our girls to Dell,” Cruz said. “And last week, Veritas went undercover and got them on film explaining their policy is they will give puberty blockers and suppressors to children as young as eight years old. And I just think that’s horrific.”

“I think a child that is eight years old, does not have the maturity to make permanent life-altering decisions,” he said. “We see institutions across the country performing genital mutilation, performing surgeries where they remove perfectly healthy genitals from children, little boys or little girls, making them no longer able to have children for the rest of their lives. That is horrific. I think that’s child abuse.”

In the Project Veritas video, medical professionals at the hospital appear to say that they are giving kids as young as 8-years-old life-altering puberty blockers, and cross-sex hormones to children as young as 14-years-old.

“We do have patients who are starting [transition] as young as eight, nine [years old],” said Nora Scott, a licensed social worker at Austin-based Dell Children’s Medical Center, Project Veritas reported.
