On Monday, ABC’s “The View” host Whoopi Goldberg echoed the recent comments of CNN host Don Lemon and attacked 2024 presidential candidate Nikki Haley for her age.
“You’re not a new generation, you’re 51, what are you talking about?” Goldberg said. “She may be younger than most of those people, but her rhetoric is the same. She’s saying the same B.S.”
Goldberg’s comments came after CNN host Don Lemon said during a segment of CNN This Morning that “Nikki Haley is not in her prime, sorry, when a woman is considered to be in her prime is her 20s and 30s and maybe 40s.”
Co-host Poppy Harlow then stopped him.
“Wait,” Harlow said. “Prime for what?”
“It depends. It’s just like prime, if you look it up. If you Google, ‘when is a woman in her prime’ it will say, ’20s, 30s and 40s,’” Lemon claimed.
Lemon’s comment sparked backlash on social media, and Nikki Haley responded by saying, “It’s always the liberals who are the most sexist.”
Lemon later apologized for the comment but didn’t mention Haley by name.
“The reference I made to a woman’s ‘prime’ this morning was inartful and irrelevant, as colleagues and loved ones have pointed out, and I regret it. A woman’s age doesn’t define her either personally or professionally. I have countless women in my life who prove that every day,” Lemon wrote on Twitter.
