Democrat Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke, known for his consecutive election losses that inexplicably increased his confidence in his political career, is reportedly considering a run for Governor of Texas.
“Three years after becoming Democrats’ breakout star out of Texas, and a year removed from crashing back to Earth in a short-lived presidential run, O’Rourke is again weighing another campaign — this time for governor,” the Associated Press reported. “But now O’Rourke, who teased an announcement of his bid for the White House on the cover of Vanity Fair, is being quiet about it. He says he hasn’t ruled out anything, but isn’t saying much else. And Texas Democrats are itching for an answer.”
“Man, I’m just born to be in it.” Beto O’Rourke seemed to come from nowhere to the brink of a presidential candidacy—but he’s been on this journey for his whole life. O’Rourke spoke with Joe Hagan. Photographs by Annie Leibovitz. https://t.co/WhmQGZnbUg pic.twitter.com/a7DCoaZdtd

After losing a Texas election for the U.S. senate, O’Rourke convinced himself that he should run for president in 2020. He began in third place, but quickly fell to sixth place as voters learned more about him and his policies. Shortly after he announced his presidential campaign, an interview with the Washington Post revealed some of the pranks O’Rourke played on his wife.
“And then there were the pranks: the remote-controlled cockroach in the kitchen, the ‘Psycho’-style scares in the shower. One time, according to a friend, Beto collected an especially verdant turd from one of their kids’ diapers and put it in a bowl, telling Amy it was avocado. (Neither would confirm this, though Beto did allow it sounded like something he’d do.),” the Post reported.
If Beto decides to run for governor of Texas in 2022, it would be his third consecutive election cycle running for office, and his third consecutive loss if both trends continue.
