Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom’s wife celebrated the murder conviction of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in a most unusual way. Similar to virtually every social media user in the country, Jennifer Siebel Newsom took to Twitter to express her thoughts on the announced verdict.

“George Floyd should still be alive today. And while nothing will bring him back or heal the unthinkable pain his killing caused his family and Black Americans everywhere, today’s verdict offers retribution on toxic masculinity and a ray of light in the fight for racial justice” wrote Mrs. Newsom.
Twitter responses ranged from “sincerely asking, does anyone know what she means by this?” to a simple “Girl no.” One Twitter user explained to this first lady, “This ain’t it Jen. Toxic masculinity is real but this is about racism and the broken institutions that harm Black people. Not the same thing!”

Fellow liberal Californian Nancy Pelosi too faced a ‘tough crowd’ of social media warriors after she actually thanked George Floyd for “sacrificing your life for justice.” Jennifer Newsom should know a thing or two about toxic masculinity considering she is married to a man who had the audacity to shut down an entire state, bankrupt it even further, take away religious freedom, and demand people stay home while he continued to travel and have mask-less, social distanced-less dinners with other political leaders.
Jennifer, blink twice if you need help.
