Rep Gaetz: I’m Filing Charges Against Pelosi

Nancy Pelosi

Here is the headline as reported by Fox News

Matt Gaetz to file ethics charges against Pelosi, force a vote in House

The story says this, in part:

“House Judiciary Committee member Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., said Wednesday he will be filing ethics charges against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., over what he called her “temper tantrum” following President Trump’s State of the Union address the previous evening.

Gaetz told Laura Ingraham on “The Ingraham Angle” that he will file the charges with the House Ethics Committee on Thursday.

‘[Pelosi] disgraced the House of Representatives, she embarrassed our country and she destroyed official records. The law does not allow the Speaker of the House to destroy the records of the House and the rules of the House do not permit some little temper tantrum just because you don’t like what the president of the United States says,’ he said.”

Gaetz is not alone in calling attention to Pelosi’s appallingly childish behavior. He is joined in the House by New York’s Congressman Lee Zeldin, both of whom, with others, are signing onto a “privileged resolution by House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Kay Granger, R-Texas.”

There is now a move afoot to either censure Pelosi for her behavior in all this – if not expel her outright.

Here’s another Fox headline:

Newt Gingrich: Pelosi should be kicked out of office for her ‘petty, childish’ behavior

Said the former Speaker, who himself presided – with considerable dignity – over the Clinton impeachment: (Bold print supplied.)

“You know, I introduced Bill Clinton four times when I was speaker of the House,’ Gingrich remarked, referring to his time in office. ‘One time it was in the middle of the scandal. Every time, because of the dignity of the House and the Constitution, I used the right phrase. She didn’t.’

Gingrich said that the idea Pelosi would tear up her copy of the State of the Union address was ‘childish’ and ‘so beneath the dignity of the House.’

‘I agree with Jonathan Turley — who is a Democrat — who wrote this morning that she really should be kicked out of office for demeaning the entire nature of both the Constitution and the House of Representatives,’ he added.

‘Remember,’ Gingrich continued, ‘he is delivering a constitutionally required address so in a sense she is ripping up a document that exists under the Constitution.’”

In other words?

There is now a move afoot to either censure Pelosi for her behavior in all this – if not expel her outright.

She has abused her power as Speaker, putting in place an impeachment procedure that blatantly denied the President due process. Pelosi allowed Adam Schiff to hide the identity of the whistleblower, hold secret depositions, bar Republicans from secret depositions and more, including making public the private records of a journalist and a private attorney of the President.

At a minimum, Matt Gaetz is right: Pelosi should be censured for her completely unethical conduct.

And maximum? Pelosi should resign  – or be expelled in disgrace.
