Stealing Pennsylvania?

Way back there in the midst of the fall 2008 presidential election I had this headline on a column in The American Spectator: Stealing Pennsylvania:...

Amy Coney Barrett could barely finish her swearing-in ceremony before liberal legislatures are calling for her impeachment. Barrett is to begin hearing oral arguments next week. However, the left already wants her to recuse herself, demanding she be impeached if she doesn’t. The Luzerne County Board of Elections filed a recusal motion Tuesday over Pennsylvania’s extension for mail-in ballots.

“The nomination and confirmation of a Supreme Court justice this close to a presidential election is unprecedented,” wrote the Board. “As concerning as that is, what is even more troubling is the language President Trump has used in consideration of this nomination, linking it directly to the electoral season at hand, with implications for his own re-election” they added.

On Friday, Republicans requested the Supreme Court rule on Pennsylvania’s “Supreme Court deadlocked case that mail-in ballots be accepted as long as they arrive by Nov. 6 and were not postmarked after Election Day” reports Biz Pac Review.

American Enterprise Institute’s Norman Ornstein tweeted, “I repeat: If Barrett, acceding to a partisan swearing-in at the White House, knowing that Trump explicitly said he nominated her to sway the election, does not recuse, it is an overt quid pro quo. The House should impeach her to leave an irrevocable stain on a dishonorable justice.”

Chip Franklin tweeted, “If Amy Barrett doesn’t recuse herself on the Pennsylvania voter suppression case going to the Supreme Court she should be impeached. Raise your hand and pass it on if you agree.” PBS host Alexander Heffner published an entire opinion piece in the Independent agreeing with the other vocal liberals. If Barrett does not recuse herself “from decisions that would clearly amount to a quid pro quo for Trump’s re-election” her “rank duplicity will be unmistakable” which will then give Democrats fair game to “swiftly impeach” Barrett because public support for her will “crumble.”

Editor’s Note: Amy Barrett did not participate in these briefs.  She didn’t recuse herself but the Court said in their release that she didn’t participate in the PA and NC decisions.
