President Trump is taking action to keep American citizens safe, particularly in areas where Democratic leadership is perpetuating the problem. On Sunday President Trump tweeted “The Radical Left Democrats, who totally control Biden, will destroy our Country as we know it. Unimaginably bad things would happen to America.” Speaking from the oval office yesterday, Trump referenced New York Governor Cuomo and the “crime wave” the city is experiencing, saying if Cuomo won’t do anything about it, “I will.”
Therefore, Trump is “planning to deploy federal agents to Chicago and possibly other Democrat-run cities” reported the Associated Press. Specifically, The Department of Homeland Security is “slated to send about 150 Homeland Security Investigations agents to Chicago to help local law enforcement deal with a spike in crime, according to an official with direct knowledge of the plans who spoke on condition of anonymity because the official wasn’t authorized to speak publicly.”
Reportedly a spokesman for Homeland Security would not comment on “allegedly leaked operations.” President Trump has used the federal agency Department of Homeland Security for just that: Homeland Security. “Trump has already deployed agents to Portland under the mantle of protecting federal buildings from protesters” and he will also take agents who have been deployed to the U.S.-Mexico border and place them in the Democrat-controlled cities.
Unsurprisingly, Trump is receiving both praise and criticism for sending in agents to assist local law enforcement. Some local leaders say the presence of federal agents has exacerbated the problem; A statement virtually impossible to prove. Liberal Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot who has governed one of the most violent cities and failed her citizens does not want Trump to send in agents.
Whether it be pride, politicization, or wanting to keep knowledge of her terrible policies and leadership under wraps, Mayor Lightfoot not wanting assistance is yet another example of her poor leadership. The president of the local Chicago police officer’s union actually wrote a letter to Trump pleading “for help from the federal government’ to help combat gun violence” reported AP. Additionally, the AP reports “The city has seen 414 homicides this year, compared with 275 during the same period last year, and a spate of shootings in recent weeks as cities around the country have seen an uptick in violence.”
