Press Secretary Jen Psaki And Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas Hold Briefing At White House

Psaki: ‘We’re Not Going To Take Options Off The Table’ To Combat COVID-19

During Monday’s press briefing, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said the Biden administration was “not going to take options off the table” for what public health “experts” will recommend for combatting the COVID-19 pandemic.

“On Friday, the President was asked whether Americans should expect more guidelines coming out because of COVID, because of the Delta variant, and he said, ‘in all probability,’” a reporter said. “So, what’s on the table?”

“I’m not, obviously, the President is keeping the option open of making sure that he is, that the CDC and our public health officials can make recommendations on what’s needed to keep the American people safe,” Psaki responded. “I’m not in a position to preview that or to get ahead of any decisions they may make. What I can reiterate, though, is and you heard Dr. Fauci and Dr. Collins reiterate this weekend, we’ve been clear, we’re not going back to the shutdowns of March of 2020. We’re not going back to the economy shutting down. We’ve made too much progress. Too many people are vaccinated, there’s been too much progress on the economic front.”

Negating her claim that “we’re not going back to the shutdowns of March of 2020,” Psaki added, “But again, he has said from the beginning that we are going to be guided by the science, guided by our public health experts, and we’re not going to take options off the table of what they may recommend.”

Psaki’s comments come the week after Principal Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during a White House Press briefing that if the CDC recommended more lockdowns, the Biden administration would “follow their guidance.”

“So, if you’re listening to the scientists, if scientists come to you at some point down the line and say, ‘It is our opinion that there should be shutdowns and there should be school closures,’ you would do that?” Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked.

“Well, we listen to, like I said, we listen to the CDC and the expert[s] and their guidance … you know, the CDC is a body that is very well respected,” Jean-Pierre responded. “And again, we follow their guidance.”

Capitol Police Ordered To Arrest Maskless House Staff And Visitors

U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) have been ordered to arrest visitors and staff members who fail to comply with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s renewed mask mandate, regardless of if they are vaccinated against COVID-19.

A bulletin for USCP says, “On July 27, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued new guidance that all individuals, vaccinated and unvaccinated alike, should wear a mask in indoor spaces to reduce the spread of the Delta variant of COVID-19.”

“Based on this information, the Office of Attending Physician (OAP) advised that Congress follow the CDC’s guidance to require mask-wearing in interior spaces to help reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection,” the bulletin adds.  “Therefore, effective immediately, to promote the good health and well-being of our employees, all USCP personnel must wear a mask at all times when in interior spaces throughout the Capitol Grounds.”

The bulletin warns, “If a visitor or staff member fails to wear a mask after a request is made to do so, the visitor or staff shall be denied entry to the House Office Buildings or House-side of the U.S. Capitol. Any person who fails to either comply or leave the premises after being asked to do so would be subject to an arrest for Unlawful Entry.”

The stated reason for what has been
described by Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) as “an overstep of Speaker Pelosi’s authority” is the rise in the prevalence of COVID-19 variants.  However, a recent study from the U.K. found that vaccines are still “highly effective” against COVID-19 variants.

“This is such an overstep of Speaker Pelosi’s authority to basically make our Capitol Police arrest staff members and report on members [of Congress],” Cammack said. “It’s absolutely unconscionable that this is where we’re at.”

House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) made similar comments on Twitter, writing, “To be clear: Pelosi is directing police to ARREST vaccinated people who aren’t wearing masks. This isn’t about science—it’s about power and control.”

Former Trump Health Official: If You Are Not Vaccinated, ‘You Will Get The Delta Variant’

During a Fox News interview on Thursday, Admiral Brett Giroir, former assistant health secretary under President Trump, said that the Delta variant of COVID-19 is much more contagious, and those who have not been vaccinated “will get the Delta variant.”

“I do want to make one thing clear again, and it’s the most important public health message,” Giroir said. “In the middle of all this confusion and misinformation, one thing remains clear. If you are vaccinated, you are at least 95 percent protected against serious consequences, hospitalizations, and death.”

Recent data supports Giroir’s claim. According to studies from Canada and the U.K., between 79% to 87% of those who are vaccinated and become infected with the Delta variant are asymptomatic.  Another study from the U.K. found that the vaccines are over 90% effective against hospitalization.

“And let me tell you, if you have not been vaccinated, and you have not had COVID before, you will get the Delta variant. This is so infectious that you will get it. If you have had COVID before, we don’t know exactly, but it’s looking like prior immunity is not so good against Delta,” Giroir continued. “And I’m really concerned that the evidence is mounting that even natural immunity will not protect you against Delta. So, get the vaccine. It’s the way to save your life to keep you out of the hospital. And that’s the number one reason we need to get it.”

“Anyone who’s — anyone who’s not vaccinated and who did not have COVID previously, the Delta variant is so contagious that you’re going to get it. It is just a matter of time,” Giroir said. “If you have prior immunity — if you have prior immunity, you do have some protection, but more and more data are telling us that that protection is not so good against Delta. Remember, you can get the flu every year. It’s not because your immunity isn’t good. It’s because the flu changes. And Delta is really a new strain that is different than everything we have seen. So, I am real concerned that natural immunity, although real, is not going to be sufficient against Delta.”

“And if you don’t have natural immunity, and you’re not vaccinated, you’re going to get Delta,” he concluded. “So, prevent it by getting your vaccine.”

Joe Biden

Bully Biden: ‘If You’re Not Vaccinated, You’re Not Nearly as Smart as I Thought You Were’

President Joe Biden sure knows how to make Americans feel confident and safe when it comes to the COVID-19 vaccine; insult their intelligence. Earlier this week Biden spoke to reporters, albeit briefly, at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

One reporter asked the President if mandating the COVID vaccine for all federal employees is “under consideration.” Not answering the question at all, Biden barked, “If you’re not vaccinated, you’re not nearly as smart as I thought you were.”

The Western Journal reports, “it’s worth noting that not so long ago, Biden himself had a case of vaccine hesitancy.” Last September, Biden sang a different tune about the vaccines to be released under…President Trump.

“The way [then-President Donald Trump] talks about the vaccine is not particularly rational,” said Biden. “He’s talking about it being ready, he’s going to talk about moving it quicker than the scientists think it should be moved…People don’t believe that he’s telling the truth, therefore they’re not at all certain they’re going to take the vaccine.”

Sounds familiar. “And one more thing. If and when the vaccine comes, it’s not likely to go through all the tests that needs to be and the trials that are needed to be done” added Biden. Ironically, Biden was barking from his basement where he spent majority of 2020.

Fox News legal analyst Greg Jarrett spoke on ‘Hannity’ questioning why Joe Biden hasn’t pushed the FDA to accelerate approval of the vaccines, such as Trump did. “The failure to get final approval is one of the reasons that millions of Americans are refusing to get the vaccine,” said Jarrett.

Trump, however, “ordered the FDA to cut through the red tape to provide Emergency use Authorization” for each of the vaccines. If “Biden really cared, as he says he does, about getting millions more American vaccinated, he could do what Trump did and cut the red tape” explained Jarrett.

But no, Biden and his vice president defer to name-calling, insulting intelligence, and politicking. The Western Journal reminds us that only last October Kamala Harris said during the vice presidential debate, “if the public health professionals, if Dr. Fauci, if the doctors tell us that we should take it, I’ll be the first in line to take it” she said of the vaccine.

“But if Donald Trump tells us I should take it, that we should take it, I’m not taking it” she exclaimed.

TX Gov Abbott to Keep Mask Mandates Prohibited, Despite Request by Mayor and Judge

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has denied requests from a state’s judge and mayor to enforce mask-wearing in schools and government buildings. The mayor of San Antonio and a county judge asked Abbott for permission via letter.

The letter from Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff came a day after Abbott tweeted, “The time for government mask mandates is over – now is the time for personal responsibility. In May, I signed an executive order prohibiting mask mandates by gov’t entities. Every Texan has the right to choose whether they will wear a mask or have their children wear masks.”

Nirenberg said a mask mandate could help save the lives of children before they head back to school. In the letter sent Wednesday, Nirenberg and Wolff requested permission to enforce mask-wearing.

“As you know, students younger than 12 are not yet eligible for vaccination so it’s on all of us to protect those young people in our community,” Nirenberg said in a press briefing Wednesday. Wolff said “schools should be able to do that” referring to a mask mandate. Wolff added “[Unvaccinated people] are putting themselves in great jeopardy, they’re putting everybody else in great jeopardy.”

Governor Abbott’s office told Fox News the governor’s official statement on mask requirements is in and of itself his Tuesday tweet shooting down the notion of mask mandates.

Fox News reports:

Metro Health sent a text notification this week to Bexar County residents advising them to wear masks indoors regardless of vaccination status, which falls in line with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s updated guidance this week.

The CDC had said in May that fully vaccinated people were not required to wear masks indoors, but updated its mask guidance Tuesday for vaccinated people over the threat of the delta variant of the virus. It now urges people in some areas of the country with “high” or “substantial” COVID-19 transmission to mask up indoors.
