Now it begins.
* Apple bans Parler, the conservative Twitter, from its app store.
* Google bans Parler from its app store.
* Twitter bans the President of the United States.
* Twitter locks Dan Bongino’s account for sharing the video message from President Trump.
• Simon and Schuster refuse to publish Senator Josh Hawley’s book “The Tyranny of Big Tech”, which they had contracted to print. Hawley said in the book, according to a blurb, that Big Tech “represents the gravest threat to American liberty since the monopolies of the Gilded Age.”
• Republican attorney Cleta Mitchell is forced out of her law firm for advising President Trump.
• CNN is trying to get television carriers to knock Fox, Newsmax and One America News off their platforms.
• Lists are being compiled of Trump supporters, with open threats to deny them jobs and future employment.
• Joe Biden compares Senators Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley to Nazis.
This, my fellow Americans, is what a dictatorship looks like. In this case, it is what the Joe Biden-Big Tech-Big Media alliance looks like.
Make no mistake, this is flat out fascism. And it has been brewing in the precincts of the American Left for several years.
The move to remake America as a fascist state has begun.
Arguably the opening round was in 2009 with efforts by Left-wing church elites to silence Rush Limbaugh. They started a “So We Might See” campaign to get the FCC to silence Rush. The campaign failed, backfiring when the rank and file of the churches saw my reveal of the campaign in The American Spectator, realizing it was their offering money that was being used to finance the silence-Rush campaign and even indoctrinate school children with leftist propaganda. Also targeted was Lou Dobbs, then at CNN, Fox’s Bill O’Reilly and Glenn Beck.
Three years later another campaign was launched to silence Rush, this time by targeting his advertisers. That failed as well as Rush’s listeners rallied to him.
Next, the focus shifted to Fox – specifically Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham, with attacks on their advertisers.
Now, in the era of social media, Silicon Valley tech elites have combined with Democrats and Big Media to target any and every conservative outlet, personality or show they don’t like. Free speech, the lifeblood of the American Republic, is being shut down.
On his Fox show this week, Tucker Carlson, a longtime target for the silencers, said this:
“We told you Thursday that the crackdown on America’s civil liberties is coming, and it didn’t take long to arrive. It is unprecedented and it will have consequences.
Days after Donald Trump called for breaking up the Big Tech monopolies in order to preserve democracy, they have silenced him. Friday evening, Twitter announced that the sitting president had been banned from the platform that is his primary means of public communication. Of course, they waited until the Democratic Party took power to shut it down. Silicon Valley oligarchs are more powerful than the president of the United States, and they want you to know it.
Like most actions taken to suppress extremism, this will cause more of it.
The assault on speech accelerates, and we at “Tucker Carlson Tonight” are not immune. Friday morning, CNN announced that it is working to force the Fox News Channel off the air and run this company out of business.
A number of prominent Democrats, including officeholders, support that effort. CNN staffers have already contacted the six major cable carriers in this country, the companies that carry our signal into your home, and pressured them to drop Fox News. On what pretext, you may ask? On the pretext that this show and others on the channel are directly responsible for the violence at the U.S. Capitol this week. ‘[I]t is time,” CNN announced, “that TV carriers face questions for lending their platforms to dishonest companies that profit off of disinformation and conspiracy theories.’”
In short, CNN, the network where I once happily worked as a contributor from 2015-2017 has now made it fair to join those who are intent on wiping out free speech and the First Amendment. Except, of course, for themselves and like-minded leftist outlets.
This is at once both shocking and extremely dangerous.
The next handful of days are surely going to be tense.
But the next four years are clearly going to be more than tense. They will feature an all-out assault on the civil liberties of conservatives.
